Why the Human Experience Still Wins: Our Time at the Host Planet Bath Roadshow

What a day. We were thrilled to sponsor the Host Planet Bath Roadshow, put on in partnership with the great guys at Curated Property. The room was buzzing with hosts, property managers and industry experts, all swapping ideas, comparing notes on AI and sharing what's working (and what definitely isn't) in the short term rental world.

There were talks, AI strategy sessions, plenty of coffee and even more chats about partnerships. We came away with a notebook full of insights and a head full of ideas.

Why the Human Experience Matters for Celebrations

For us, the best part was chatting with hosts about something we care about a lot: guest experience.

At My Event Concierge, we help groups plan celebrations, anniversaries, milestone birthdays and all sorts of memorable events in gorgeous holiday homes. So we were keen to hear how hosts think about guests who book a stay to mark a big occasion.

Here's what we know. Celebration guests aren't just after a bed for the night. They want memories, atmosphere and the feeling that someone has gone the extra mile for them. A warm welcome, a thoughtful touch or a brilliantly planned activity can turn a nice stay into one everyone's still talking about years later (and one they'll happily book again).

On the Panel: Keeping It Human in an AI World

Alex one of our Co-Founders joined a panel alongside Armaund the General Manager of Turno, and Ed the Managing Director of Group Accommodation - on keeping the human connection in an increasingly AI-driven world. Our take?

  • Keep AI away from the front of house. If you're celebrating a milestone birthday, you want to feel looked after by a real person, not a chatbot.

  • Let AI do the heavy lifting behind the scenes. It's brilliant for admin, workflows, data and speeding up the boring bits as well as identifying trends.

  • Spend the time you save on guests. The more AI handles in the background, the more time we all have for the personal touches that make guests smile.

AI should make hospitality more human, not less!!

Cocktails and Grazing Boards at the House of St John's

Once the talks wrapped up, we headed to the beautiful House of St John's on Queens Square for our networking drinks that we hosted for anyone keen to continue the conversations into the evening. We brought along a cocktail mixologist to keep the glasses full, plus gorgeous grazing boards from our local suppliers.

It was the perfect way to de-brief after a full-on day, catch up with new friends and carry on all those partnership chats somewhere a bit more relaxed. Nothing beats good conversation over a great cocktail.

Thank You

Huge thanks to Host Planet and Curated Property for putting on such a fantastic event in Bath, and to everyone who came along to our networking event afterwards.
