From Regional Finalists to National Winners: Our UK Startup Awards Journey

Updated: Sep 16

The Startup Awards 2025 Highlight Reel

When we first applied for the UK Startup Awards, we honestly didn’t know what to expect. To our surprise (and slight disbelief), we were nominated as regional finalists in the Hospitality, Tourism and Events category for the South West.

That in itself felt like such a huge achievement - we were over the moon!

Then, when we actually won the regional award, things started to feel very real. That win meant we were heading down to the national finals at Ideas Fest 2025 in Hertfordshire… and wow, what a ride that turned out to be. The day itself was brilliant. We soaked up the atmosphere, listened to some inspiring talks about investment, were interviewed on a podcast, business, and AI (We love a bit of future-thinking), and had some amazing conversations with other entrepreneurs. It was one of those days where you leave with your head buzzing.

But when the evening rolled around, the nerves kicked in. We were surrounded by such incredible businesses (including one of our own partners, Birch Stays), and just being nominated alongside them felt surreal.

So when they called our name as the WINNERS… let’s just say, we were not prepared!

Getting up on stage, being interviewed, and holding that award in our hands felt absolutely surreal. It’s one of those pinch-me moments that we’ll never forget!

The whole experience was a massive highlight for us, and it’s given us even more drive to keep pushing forward and chasing down our big goals this year, growing My Event Concierge further and further.

So, if you’re reading this and wondering whether you should apply for the UK Startup Awards - here’s our advice: DO IT.

You never know where it might take you, and the journey itself is so worth it.

Here’s to more milestones, more adventures, and (hopefully) more awards to come!
